1. What inspired you to start writing/creating art, and how has that inspiration evolved over time?

  • What inspired me to start writing was a school assignment. We had just finished reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians and were assigned to write a short story. Once I started writing, I couldn't stop. When I finished the story, I found myself wanting to do more. Since then, I have never looked back.

2. Can you share the story behind your latest work? What was your creative process like?

  • The story behind 7 Moons Hotel is actually quite comical. I've always wanted to write a story about a hotel manager, but I wasn't sure what it would entail. Yet, one fateful dinner, I was eating and I suddenly bit myself. Somehow and someway, I connected the dots. I had an urge to write about a vampire! A few weeks later, I had a complete novella about a vampire delinquent turned hotel manager, a witch detective, and a magical crime to stop.

3. What themes or messages do you aim to convey through your work, and why are they important to you?

  • I've always enjoyed light reads. Something that would feel like a hug for the soul. I aim that sense of feeling to be conveyed in all of my works. Such a thing could come in many forms. Whether it was a moment that made you laugh, a moment or conflict that resonated with you, or something only you would know. My books are filled with action and humor, so no matter where you are, you will have a thrilling time.

4.  What advice would you give to aspiring authors/artists who are just starting their journey?

  • Write something you want. Write a story you're passionate about. If you write a story you're passionate about, the words will fly right off the page.

5.  What role has self-publishing or independent production played in your career, and what have you learned from the process?

  • When I first started, I had no idea what I was doing. It was until I arrived on bookstagram and writergram! There I found such a wonderful community of people. Indie authors supporting indie authors. Everyone was so nice and really helped me navigate the self publishing process. There's so many things that go on behind the scenes. From writing to the more technical process of uploading your book to various platforms. Being an indie author is truly a learning experience. With every day, you grow!

6. How do you connect with your audience, and what has been your favorite moment of reader or viewer feedback?

  • I connected with my audience mostly through my podcast! Softestlore Podcast opened the doors for indie authors to discuss the creation process and how it was to hit publish on their book. From there, I made a bunch of author friends! They read my wips and all came to the same conclusion. My writing was...whimsical! That was my favorite moment ever!

7. How do you handle challenges like writer's block or creative burnout, and what motivates you to keep going?

  • I take a step back and allow myself to relax. Read a book, watch a movie, and ultimately, write through the block. It's okay if the words on the page aren't to your liking. Free writing and spontaneous bursts of writing really help jump that creative hurdle!

8. What’s next for you? Can you share any upcoming projects or future creative goals you’re excited about?

  • I have the second book of 7 Moons Hotel outlined and ready to go! (Well, not outlined, I'm a major panster, but I know where I'm going with it!) Title and plot are ready to go! Aside from that, I have a cozy fantasy I'm aiming to finish! Fun fact, my cozy fantasy was my main wip until 7 Moons Hotel took my attention.

9. Who are some of your biggest creative influences, and how have they shaped your work or style?

  • I have a soft spot for MG Fantasy! My spark for reading was ignited by Percy Jackson! Rick Riordan is my favorite author ever! It certainly influenced my work, but eventually, I found my own voice.

10. How has your personal life or experiences influenced your writing/art, and are there any particular moments that stand out?

  • My writing is rarely influenced by my day to day. But, my dreams certainly influence my writing!  Sometimes I have very vivid dreams and sometimes, they work very well in stories.
